Not what I was expecting. I'll admit that maybe my understanding of what they were trying to accomplish was inaccurate. I arrived with numerous reusable bags as I understand that they are zero packaging, so essentially anything you purchase you must have your own bag for. Not true. Their bulk section (which is small by most standards, but mostly sourced from Canada) has paper bags available for use. When I asked the clerk, was told that they can just be composted or burned after use. They sell things like single rolls of environmentally friendly toilet paper, but each one wrapped in paper. Things like hummous sold in the fridge, in a cardboard container. They do have about 10-15 spouts coming out of the wall with things like canola oil, dish soap, vinegar that you must use your own container for which was cool, wish there were more of these products. They also had a few little hand pumps with Tahini for example, same thing. They also sell all types of jars for you to store your purchases and refill as needed, although they were pricey I found. Not worth the special trip I made to Salt Spring Island for, which was disappointing.
